About the Primary Programme
A British school right in the heart of Riga. The Primary Programme is designed for children aged 5–8 who are beginning their journey into English.
The programme suits both complete beginners and children with basic knowledge or a higher level of English.

Example of cross-subject learning: In Science, children study the topic "Animals" — learning their English names and discussing where they live. The same words come up again in Story Time. In Math, children count paws and tails, and in Arts, they draw their favourite animals. New words become part of the child's vocabulary!
Lesson format: Once a week (Fri or Sat), 4.5 hours — with a break for a hot lunch.

British National Curriculum
The programme for children aged 5–8 is built on the British National Curriculum, combining the development of academic knowledge, practical skills and creative thinking. Children learn English across a range of subject areas: reading, writing, math, natural sciences, creativity and research projects. As in British schools, learning is built around fostering independence, curiosity, critical thinking and the ability to apply knowledge in practice. Topics and tasks are adapted to the children's age and match their interests, English level and stage of development. The programme builds a solid foundation for further academic learning and confident use of English.

In English lessons, children develop speaking, listening, reading and writing through games, stories, songs and creative tasks. Students expand their vocabulary and learn to use English in real situations: introducing themselves, talking about their family, describing a favourite animal or discussing their hobbies. Strong emphasis is placed on pronunciation, phonics and early grammar structures through hands-on tasks, dialogues and role-play. Children learn to ask questions, express their thoughts and communicate confidently in English.
Phonics
In Phonics, children learn to connect sounds and letters, developing correct reading and pronunciation skills in English. Through games, songs, rhymes and interactive tasks, students learn sounds, letter combinations and reading rules. Children practise recognising sounds in words, forming their first words and confidently reading simple texts. For example, students learn to read words like cat, sun, ship, find matching sounds and build their own short sentences. Lessons help lay a solid foundation for further reading and writing development.
Science and STEM
In Science & STEM, children explore the world around them through experiments, research and hands-on tasks. Students are introduced to the basics of science, technology, engineering and math, building curiosity and logical thinking. They carry out simple experiments, observe natural phenomena, study animals, plants and space, and create their own projects. For example, children might build a bridge out of building blocks, create a model volcano, explore the properties of water or run a simple science experiment. Lessons help children learn to ask questions, seek solutions and apply knowledge in practice.
Story Time and Drama
In Story Time & Drama, children develop English through engaging stories, drama games and creative self-expression. Students are introduced to children's stories, fairy tales and characters, learning to understand the plot, describe characters and express their emotions in English. Through role-play, dialogues and mini-performances, children build speech, imagination and communication confidence. For example, students might act out a scene from The Three Little Pigs, create their own fairy-tale character, act out a dialogue at a shop or invent a continuation of a story. Lessons help children fall in love with books, build creative ability and use English in a natural, playful way.
Math and Critical Thinking
In Math & Critical Thinking, children develop mathematical thinking through games, logic problems and hands-on tasks. Students learn numbers, shapes, measurements and basic mathematical concepts, learning to apply knowledge in real situations. Strong emphasis is placed on building logic and the ability to analyse, compare and find solutions. For example, children solve puzzles, work with jigsaws, build math models, count objects in games and complete pattern-finding tasks. Lessons help build confidence in math and independent-thinking skills.
Arts & Crafts
In Arts & Crafts, children develop creativity, imagination and fine motor skills through a variety of art projects. Students are introduced to colours, shapes, materials and different craft techniques. They draw, make collages, and work with paper, natural materials and other media, building independence and neatness. For example, children might create their own greeting card, make a model animal, put together a seasonal project or design a fantasy character. Lessons help children express their ideas and enjoy the creative process.
Nature Explorers
In Nature Explorers, children study the world around them through observation, research and hands-on tasks. Students are introduced to animals, plants, natural phenomena and learn to understand how the world around us works. Through experiments, discussions and creative projects, children build curiosity, environmental awareness and research skills. For example, they might study insects, create a mini garden, observe the weather, explore plant properties or carry out simple nature experiments. Lessons help children become true explorers and see science in everyday life.
