About the Course

In class, Latvian becomes more than just a school subject — it's a tool for communication, creativity and self-expression. Interesting topics, games, stories, films, discussions and creative tasks help children develop language skills naturally.

This course is designed for students who want to move beyond textbooks and start using Latvian in real situations: talking with friends, expressing their opinion, talking about their interests, and understanding contemporary Latvian culture.

We don't teach the language through rote memorisation of rules and word lists. In class, children talk a lot, ask questions, work in pairs and groups, and take part in games, discussions and creative projects.

Using modern materials — short stories, cartoons, video clips and interactive tasks — children gradually begin to think and express their thoughts in Latvian without constant translation.

Example lesson topics: my friends and my interests; school and school life; emotions and moods; dreams and future plans; social media; movie and cartoon characters; creativity and hobbies.
