Five Things to Do the Night Before Your IELTS Exam

The night before your IELTS exam isn't the time to cram new grammar rules — it's the time to make sure you arrive rested, focused and calm. Here's what we tell our students on the IELTS preparation course.

1. Stop studying new material

New information barely has time to sink in the night before. A light review of your own notes is fine — opening a new textbook to practise is not.

2. Check your documents and the exam logistics

Make sure you know exactly where the exam centre is, what time you need to arrive, and which ID to bring. Removing logistical uncertainty is one of the easiest ways to reduce stress on exam day.

3. Do one short, familiar listening or reading task

A short, easy task you've already done before will help "warm up" your English without adding extra pressure.

4. Get a proper night's sleep

Fatigue affects concentration and memory far more than most students realise — it's not worth sacrificing sleep for one more hour of review.

5. Eat your usual breakfast on exam day

Don't experiment with anything new. Stick with what you know works for you.

Good luck — and remember: if you've already taken a mock exam with us, you know exactly what to expect.
